Michael Higgins BDSGDC 63677Practice PrincipalMike was born in Leigh and graduated from Sheffield University in 1988. He joined Walkden Dental Practice in 1990 as an associate to become a partner in the practice in 1996. Mike has a special interest in orthodontics and worked part-time in the Orthodontic department of Hope Hospital for four years. He is a member of the British Dental Association and the British Orthodontic Society and regularly attends courses and conferences to keep up to date with the latest developments in dentistry. Mike is married with four children, enjoys reading, keeping fit and watching rugby and football.
Christian Hewitt BDSGDC 66646Practice PrincipalChris was born in Salford and graduated from Glasgow in 1991. Chris spent a short time working in Leigh before joining Walkden Dental Practice in 1992. Chris became a partner in the practice in 1996. Chris has a keen interest in endodontics and cosmetic dentistry, attending many courses on these topics as well as many others. Chris is a member of the General Practitioners Association and is an active member of the Salford Local Dental Committee. Chris is married with four children and enjoys motorbikes, Tai Chi and cycling.
Richard Bleasdale BDSGDC 50461AssociateRichard was born in Blackburn and graduated from Manchester University in 1976. He has since worked in Manchester and surrounding areas, spending some years as a Community Dental Officer. Richard enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is a committed member of the British Dental Association. Richard is married with 2 children and spends much of his time playing golf.
Simon Ryan BDSGDC 55741AssociateSimon was born in Liverpool and Graduated from Sheffield University in 1981. Simon has worked in Manchester since qualifying and joined Walkden Dental Practice in 1987. Simon enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is an active member of the British Dental Association. Simon is married and has three children. In his free time Simon enjoys football, running, swimming and hill walking. He also likes to spend time gardening.

Mike enjoys all aspects of dentistry especially solving problems and getting people out of pain. Mike is married with two children, he enjoys watching football and rugby and keeps himself fit by practicing martial arts. Mike is also an active member of the parents teachers association at his sons school.
Janice Hutton BDSGDC 62228AssociateJanice was born in Belfast and graduated from Edinburgh University in 1987. Janice worked in other practices in Manchester before joining Walkden Dental Practice in 2000. Janice enjoys all aspects of dentistry and completed an elective course in oral surgery at Manchester Dental Hospital. Rachel Gill EDH, EDTGDC 109771Hygienist / TherapistRachel is from Salford and qualified as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist in 2007 in Manchester. Rachel also works as a hygienist and therapist in another Salford practice. Rachel particularly enjoys working with anxious patients and children. Rachel is a member of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry and The British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy and like to keep up to date with latest practices. Rachel likes to spend time with her family and friends, and also enjoys music and reading.
Bronwyn Eastwood EDHGDC 5668HygienistBronwyn was born in Manchester and qualified as a hygienist in 2000. Bronwyn has worked in practice in Bolton, Oldham and Manchester and joined Walkden Dental Practice in 2008. Bronwyn like to keep up to date with current techniques and has completed research in the use of the electric toothbrush and had an article on this published in the Dental Health Journal. Bronwyn is a member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy and in her free time enjoys swimming, walking, reading and is also involved in community charity work.
Rachel Cooney EDH, EDTGDC 141491Hygienist / TherapistRachel is from Salford and qualified as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist in 2008. Rachel underwent her training in Salford at the Greater Manchester School for Dental Care Professionals. Rachel also works as a hygienist at a practice in Salford. She enjoys treating paediatric patients and treating advanced periodontal disease. Rachel is a member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT), the British Association of Dental Therapists (BADT) and the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD). She likes to maintain her continual professional development and is a trained smoking cessation advisor. In her free time, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Emma Boyes EDH, EDTGDC 152741Hygienist / TherapistEmma was born in Birmingham and moved here to study at the University of Manchester where she qualified as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist in 2008. Emma was awarded with the (SOMANA) BSc Oral Health Science Prize,this award was for the highest overall performance throughout the three years of her degree. Prior to qualifiying as a Dental Therapist, Emma worked as a Dental Nurse/Oral Health Promoter for 9 years. Emma likes to keep up to date with the latest techniques, enjoys treating children and advanced periodontal disease and is dedicated to providing high quality care for her patients. In her spare time Emma enjoys spending time with her family and friends, keeping fit and cooking.
Kate Marshall EDH, EDTGDC 109772Hygienist / TherapistKate qualified as a Dental Hygienist/Therapist from The Greater Manchester School for Professionals Complimentary to Dentistry in 2007 and also works in practices in the Bolton and Bury area. Prior to qualifying as a Dental Hygienist/Therapist Kate was a Dental Nurse at Manchester Dental Hospital. Kate is a member of The British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy and likes to keep up to date with new techniques and latest practices and reguarly attends meetings/seminars. Natalie BensonDiploma in Dental Practice Management & RDN Practice ManagerNatalie is from Leigh and joined Walkden Dental Practice in 1995. Natalie qualified as a dental nurse in 1998 and later completed a Diploma in Dental Practice Management after taking over the role in 2002. Natalie is a member of the British Dental Practice managers Association and Denplan Practice Managers group. Natalie is married with two daughters and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Natalie also enjoys walking, listening to music and reading.
